About Louise Connell
Louise combines over 20 years of experience in critical incident response and assisting individuals and families cope with trauma. Integrating her frontline Emergency Services experience with academic knowledge and expertise she uses an authentic, calm approach to assist her clients through their mental health journey.
With a passion for ethics, social justice and advocating for individuals experiencing disadvantage at any point in their lives. Louise has a down to earth approach and natural ability to logically and strategically navigate difficult circumstances and systems. She has a fantastic knowledge of support systems, case management and services aimed to assist individuals when they need help the most- her abilities go beyond therapy!
Louise's accomplishments include working alongside Victim-Survivors of sexual abuse to achieve recovery from trauma, facilitating group therapy for women and children who have experienced high risk family violence, providing early intervention for children with Harmful Sexual Behaviours, leading critical incident psychological recovery to a team after an Indigenous death in custody in the remote Northern Territory; and providing critical incident support to schools after multiple vehicle fatalities to students within a short space of time.
As an accomplished professional who accompanies others through their trauma journeys, Louise understands the importance of maintaining work-life balance and self care. She spends her spare time in her veggie garden and with her numerous pets on an acreage west of Geelong, where her focus is on attracting native wildlife. She also dabbles in emergency service life by volunteering for the local CFA and continues her professional development by completing a Masters Degree in Clinical Family Therapy.
